Introducing Mya’s Organic & Vegan Planet 9 Fine Wine. (Available in shop section myamya.com/shop)
(Red Cabernet Sauvignon with plum infusions) made at America’s first organic and Biodynamic winery Frey Vineyards producing award-winning vegan, gluten free wines with no added sulfites since 1980.
Frey Vineyard is a third-generation family-owned and operated winery located at the pristine headwaters of the Russian River in Redwood Valley, Mendocino County, California. At Frey Vineyards they combine the best of modern and traditional winemaking methods to showcase distinctive varietal flavors. Through minimal manipulation in the cellar, they allow the wines to express the authentic character of our soils and climate. For over three decades Frey has been a vanguard in crafting wine without added sulfites, a synthetic preservative added to most other wines (even wines made with organically grown grapes!) that can cause adverse allergic reactions in some people. Their organic and Biodynamic farming methods encourage care for the soil, groundwater, and wildlife, promoting rich biodiversity in the vineyard. Ninety percent of their land is held as unspoiled natural habitat with a diverse mix of native plants and animals. As stewards of the land, we emphasize producing organic and Biodynamic wine of the highest quality while caring for planet and palate alike. http://www.freywine.com/
In recent years, genetically engineered wine yeasts have become commercially available. These yeasts are risky for the industry, because they can move from one winery to another and contaminate fermentations. The Wine Institute has made a public statement against the sale and use of genetically modified yeast. We purchase only guaranteed GMO free yeast, and support a ban on the sale and use of GMO yeast.
Certified organic yeast is now available in limited quantities in Europe. Our own yeast provider, Llalemand, is now providing us certified organic yeast which we use on all of our organic wines starting with the 2010 vintage. (Frey Biodynamic wines are still made with no added yeast, fermented with their own natural yeasts in accordance with Biodynamic winemaking standards.)
